Fylingthorpe (Thorpe)

The picturesque village of Fylingthorpe is so close to Robin Hood’s Bay that they are often treated as a single village by local residents. Locally known as Thorpe, it has many great things to offer including Barnard’s butchers (family butcher by day, popular pizza takeaway by night), The Fylingdales Inn offering food & an extensive beer garden, a children’s play park and a comprehensively stocked local corner shop known as Thorpe Stores.

The Cinder Track (formally the old Whitby to Scarborough railway line) is ideal for cycling and dog walking. It can be accessed at numerous places in Fylingthorpe and boasts spectacular views, especially along the 4-mile section to Ravenscar. Back in the village, there is also a handy footpath across the fields which leads straight down to lower Robin Hood’s Bay in about 15 mins. Alternatively, you can follow the main road which is an equally lovely walk and only takes an extra 5 mins.
