Kent House is accessed from the upper street of Bloomswell which runs at right angles to Bay Bank. Consequently, unloading into the cottage is relatively easy as it is along a flat street. Entry to the cottage is directly from the street and leads into the kitchen which is on the upper ground floor......

Upper Ground Floor

The newly refurbished kitchen (2021) is a welcome boost to Kent House. It gives a very stylish and clean first impression upon entering this lovely cottage and is a fresh and welcoming space in which to prepare family meals. It comprises a polished wood floor with new base and wall units housing a built-in electric fan oven, 4-ring electric hob, slimline dishwasher, integrated fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, kettle and toaster. There is ample work surface space and there is a useful serving hatch directly through to the dining table in the next room.A few steps from the kitchen is the spacious lounge/diner with a large leather 3-seater sofa, and a bamboo style armchair. A smart TV provides ample channels and the ever-popular Netflix. In addition to the central heating throughout, the lounge is warmed by a log-burning stove which provides for cosy winters or simply take the chill off an autumn of spring evening. This room is fully carpeted and the window to the front aspect provides open views across the pan-tiled cottages of the village and across Fisherhead. There is a large wooden dining table which will comfortably seat up to 6 people on two old church pews and a lovely old wooden captains chair.

Lower ground floor

Between the kitchen and the lounge, a door leads onto a very steep staircase down to the lower ground floor which comprises a double bedroom and a family bathroom. The fresh-looking decor in this delightful double bedroom gives the room a light and airy feel and the metal frame double bed completes the look. The window looks directly out onto lower Bloomswell and the summer house. It is fitted with plantation blinds for extra privacy but without loss of light. There is also a door out onto Bloomswell close to the summer house. Down a short corridor is the family bathroom which comprises a bath, wash basin and WC.

First floor

From the lounge, an open staircase leads to the top floor which consists of a further double bedroom with en suite and a separate twin bedroom. The double bedroom has a lovely white wood bed with bedside tables and lamps. There is a large pine wardrobe and a wicker armchair. The window to the front aspect provides open views right across to Fisherhead and towards the beach. The adjoining en suite has an electric shower, wash basin and WC. Across the landing is a pretty little twin room comprising two white wood single beds. There are two small shuttered windows to the rear aspect and a pine chest of drawers. Please note that the landing on this floor has different levels and care should be taken from crossing between the two bedrooms.

Kent House benefits from a summer house which contains a bistro table and fold up chairs. It is equally perfect for a morning coffee, a glass of wine or simply to enjoy some fresh air in the shade. There is also a wooden bench close by for if you would prefer to soak up the sun.

Having recently undergone some extensive refurbishment and redecoration, Kent House is now a cottage with a super seasidey feel and is contemporary and stylish yet retains some lovely old features. The accommodation is spacious and practical and provides an excellent base within the village to explore its charms.
