After an extensive programme of refurbishment, we are excited to welcome Darnholm back to our portfolio. Darnholm is a quintessential character fisherman's cottage in a quiet location in The Square, reputedly the oldest part of Robin Hood's Bay old village. It has recently been upgraded and transformed and now presents itself as a modern and thoughtfully-planned holiday home. It has 2 delightful bedrooms and a lower floor games room and can accommodate 4 people comfortably, with the option for sleeping a further child. There is free unlimited WiFi and a parking permit for the upper village car parks.

During peak times, whole-week bookings for this property are Friday - Friday.

Entrance

Darnholm is located on The Square in Robin Hood's Bay lower village. There is a bench seat outside the front of the house, to enjoy the morning or afternoon sunshine. The front door is accessed directly from the street into the ground-floor living area.

Ground Floor

The front door opens into a stylish and comfortable open-plan living area. There is a hard floor with a rug and 2 contemporary velvet sofas. Entertainment is provided by a large TV with a range of channels. An Amazon Firestick is also available, providing additional channels and the opportunity for you to log in to your own Netflix account. The fireplace in the lounge is currently fitted with a coal-effect gas fire (soon to be replaced with a log-burning stove (Oct 2022)). The fully-equipped kitchen is fitted in navy blue units and comprises a built-in oven and microwave, a 2-ring induction hob, fridge with freezer compartment and a slimline dishwasher. A pine and white wooden dining table completes the picture.

First Floor

A door from the kitchen leads up the stairs to the bathroom and the first of the 2 bedrooms. The bathroom comprises a full-size bath with a shower over, washbasin and WC. The bedroom has 2 full-width single beds with a bedside table and lamp between. Ample storage space is provided by a pine chest of drawers and a pretty wardrobe cupboard with ample space for hanging clothes. There is also a delightful feature fireplace in this room - a remnant of a bygone age.

Second Floor

A further staircase leads up to a lovely open attic bedroom with a pine double bed with bedside tables and lamps.  A welcome and very useful addition to this room is the single bed, tucked beneath the eves and which can comfortably accommodate a young child (guideline - up to 10 years of age). The small dormer window affords views over the pantiled rooftops of the old village and across to the beach and cliffs.
Please note....
There is limited head height in some parts of this roomThere is no bedroom door so the staircase is open to the room

Lower Ground Floor Games Room

This cottage benefits from an additional lounge/games room, affectionately known as "The Den".  Accessed though a door from the open plan lounge, steep stairs lead down to this useful additional room, equipped with a sofa, TV (with connected Amazon Firestick), table and chairs and     a range of board games.  There is even a small sink and kettle, so you can make tea/coffee, without having to come back up to the kitchen.  This is an ideal additional room for you to play games as a family, or simply for the kids to escape to. (Please note, the stairs down are rather steep, so hand rails are provided and the door at the top is secured with a combination keypad lock. Parents are free to share the code with their kids, having given appropriate instruction to take care on the stairs)

General

The changes to Darnholm have been transformational. Good use has been made of the available space and the cottage is a clever mix of the old and the new. The eye-catching decor is co-ordinated throughout the whole cottage which beautifully contributes to what is now a cosy, comfortable and well-equipped holiday property.
