This beautiful and charming 3-bedroomed cottage has been fully refurbished and nestles in a quiet yard in the very heart of the old village of Robin Hood's Bay. The contemporary interior has a calm coastal feel and you will immediately feel relaxed here. Summer Cottage is located off King Street and enjoys an elevated position overlooking New Road. It is set over 4 floors and boasts two private patios - very much a rarity in the village.

During peak times, whole week bookings for this property are Friday - Friday.

Access

From the top of King Street, access is along a 15 metre path with 2 steps down partway along it. The front door leads directly into the lounge.

Ground Floor

The front door opens into a small entrance porch and a further door takes you into the spacious and comfortable lounge. Having two windows overlooking New Road, the light floods in, making this room bright and relaxing. There are 2 large sofas for your comfort, an open fire, wood floor and a large storage cupboard for coats and boots. The large, flat-screen TV has Freeview and a DVD player. Wi-Fi is also available.Across the landing from the lounge is a pretty little single bedroom with a full-size single bed, a white chest of drawers, hanging hooks and a window to the rear aspect of the cottage.

Lower Ground Floor

From the ground floor, there is an open-tread staircase down to a very spacious dining kitchen with a stone-tiled floor and a large dining table. Two windows look out on to one of the patios which looks down onto New Road. Accessed directly from the kitchen, this patio has a wooden bench, a small table and  a raised flower bed. In the summer months, it captures the sun from mid-day through until evening. The kitchen comprises Shaker-style units with a Belfast sink, a 4-ring halogen hob, electric oven, washing machine, slimline dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer and a wall-mounted flat-screen TV with Freeview.  Being of generous proportions, this room makes it the perfect place for family meals, games nights or just simply enjoying a glass of wine.

First Floor

Stairs from the ground-floor go up to a delightful double bedroom with a metal-framed double bed. The ornamental fireplace (although non-working) provides a hint of past times, as do the panelled walls. In similar fashion to the lounge immediately below, there are 2 windows overlooking New Road which provide for ample light. An upholstered chair and a practical walk-in wardrobe with drawers and hanging space complete this room. Also on this floor is a separate bathroom with a P-shaped bath with a shower over, a large wash basin and vanity unit, WC and a small window to the rear aspect.

Second Floor

A further staircase takes you up to the open-plan attic bedroom. Equally spacious, this room has a white-wood king-size bed. Ample storage is provided by a large chest of drawers and a white wardrobe and there is a very useful dressing table with a mirror and stool. More importantly, this room has a partial en suite comprising wash basin and WC. A large dormer window looks down over New Road and up to the pantiled roofs of the village.

Outside

As stated above, Summer cottage has 2 separate outside areas, one on either side of the property. The main patio is accessible from the kitchen and is a delightful space to sit out and take in the sea air. The other patio is at the back of the cottage in the small courtyard formed by the surrounding cottages. It is more sheltered and so only gets the mid-morning sun but it is a lovely peaceful retreat from the crowds on a warm day.

General

Summer Cottage is undoubtedly spacious by Bay standards and is all the more appealing for the 2 outside spaces that it is so lucky to have. The internal decor is peaceful with more than a passing nod to the coast. It is perfectly suited for family holidays or a break away with friends and lends itself perfectly to sociable dining and gatherings.
